Non-urgent advice: How Pharmacies can help

Please help us to help you by managing minor illnesses at home – don’t forget your pharmacist can help with many minor problems. Patients can see the Pharmacist without a GP appointment, for common conditions such as earache, sore throat, or urinary tract infections.

Choose the Right Service

Every year, millions of us visit our GP with minor health problems that can be easily resolved without a doctor’s appointment. It is estimated that every year, 50 million visits to the GP are made for minor ailments such as coughs and colds, mild eczema, and athlete’s foot. Many health care problems do not need a doctor or nurse. Other professionals such as pharmacists, opticians and dentists may be better placed to help.

It is important that everyone uses their GP and local Accident and Emergency services wisely.

What happens next?

  • All incoming online consultations, are triaged by a clinician, who will decide on the most appropriate mode of care delivery. Please note that Accrx requests will close daily when a safe capacity has been reached
  • When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with. Our consultation guide provides helpful information. When requesting an appointment, please be prepared to give our team as much information as possible to help us understand your requirements.
  • We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you
  • Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners are able to deal with many routine adult cases and can issue prescriptions or refer to other health professionals. We also have a Physiotherapist working at the practice Monday to Thursday weekly.

(You may, if necessary, make such a request in the course of a consultation.) Our clinicians may also request the presence of a chaperone if they believe the circumstances warrant it.
